The collection
Guests take two kinds of thing off the shelf, and the difference between them decides every count on this site. A single film is one choice. A box set is also one choice, and it leaves the room with everything in it, so 438 of the 3,312 choices ever made arrived as a box rather than as a film.
Films
Every film in the Criterion Collection, whether or not anybody has ever taken it, with two counts on each: visits that chose it on its own, and visits that touched it in any form.
Box sets
The boxes, ranked by how many visits reached for them. Counted once each however many films they hold, because that is how many decisions the guest made.
How much of it has left the shelf
73.6% of the collection has been reached, and that figure is two different things added together. 842 films were chosen on their own. Another 422 have never been chosen at all and are counted because a box set they sit in was taken. What that decides is its own page.
The films with no number
458 films, 26.7% of the collection, carry no spine number at all. Every spine chart on this site is over the other 1,260: the histogram on the front page, the percentile rankings, the argument about which end of the shelf gets reached. They are not a random selection either. 269 of them sit inside a box set, and they are reached 60.9% of the time against 78.2% for films that have a number.

Non-spine releases: Eclipse sets, streaming-era editions and box-set-only titles. They are in every count on this site that is about films, and in none of the counts that are about spine numbers.
